About our “Gasoline” Horsebutt leather, part of our SUMI SERIES…
Gasoline Horsebutt is a tri-colored hand-dye recipe incorporating Yuen-boku Sumi Ink (Black), Red and Green dyes. It appears Black out-of-the-box and will age through the top layer of Sumi dye through the underlying layer of Red, until it finally wears through to a Green core.
The Horsebutt leather that we use to make “Gasoline” is vegetable tanned by Maryam Tannery, located in Santa Croce, Tuscany, Italy and is glazed finished with a breathable but durable TPR (thermoplastic resin) layer on the smooth top-side of the leather.
Hand-finished with a translucent Sumi Ink wax that will scuff to gradients of greys with wear and age, and paired with Dr. Sole Raw Cord half soles.

Chain-Stitch Hand-Welted
Using Black and White alternating thread colors, we hand-sew the Welt with a Chain-Stitch seam across the top, which compliments the constrasting Raw Cord details in the outsole and eventual edge scuffs.
